A collection of eleven “older” stories (with an Introduction) from noted author J. M. Snyder, this collection represents the prior work and interests of the writer. Feminist
fantasy fiction, these stories give insight into the author’s mind. The title story, “Bones of the Sea,” is a terrifying fantastical glimpse into a potential other realm, and the
last two pages will chill and thrill readers and won’t be soon forgotten—especially in the darker reaches of the night. “The Shadow Fey” is also a chilling tale with an ending
that brings closure, along with its accompaniment of terror. Additionally, “The Glitter Prince” climaxes with a shattering ending that made me shiver. These three stories
alone would make this collection worth reading and rereading!

“Gypsy Wine” is a more lengthy dark fantasy story; “Fell” is more contemporary dark fantasy, with a rather intriguing approach to the conflict. “A Hero is Never Too Old”
turns standard fantasy archetypes on their head; “Eyes Like Twins” invokes the possibility of the mythical Phoenix coming to life, although unexpectedly; “Running”
creates the type of futuristic post-apocalyptic non-civilisation for which J. M. Snyder is now well known.

“The Warrior Within” involves the sisterhood of warrior women, and “More than Mortal” is a refreshing look at the persistence of Egyptian spirituality, while “The Key” is a
magical urban fantasy.
