| Under his literary belt, his talents range from poetry to erotica, drama to suspense, and horror to children's books. His first published piece came at the age of fifteen, with a poem entitled "In the Mind." This encouragement pushed him further into the world of literary magic, and by the time he had reached eighteen, he had completed his first novel, the rarely seen horror epic Dark Phoenix. What one agent claimed a novel "too politically scary that the world's not ready for it," Dark Phoenix was quickly shelved. But where one door closed, another opened, and J. L. put the wheels of the castle of his mind back into motion. The creative process had been re-opened, like a can of worms, ready to explode. J. L. wishes to extend his thanks to the long-ago company that blew him off and to the company that gave him his first chance.
